New degree

UTA will offer a new Bachelor of Science in Business Analytics beginning in January 2021, Mirage News reported. The new degree plan will reside in UTA’s College of Business. Radha Mahapatra, chair of the Department of Information Systems and Operations Management, said there are very few universities in the region that offer a bachelor’s degree in this discipline.

Trick-or-treating in the era of COVID

Traditional trick-or-treating is considered a “higher risk activity” by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, The Dallas Morning News reported. Erin Carlson, associate clinical professor and director of graduate public health programs at UT Arlington’s College of Nursing and Health Innovation, told the publication that even though trick-or-treating is an outdoor activity, it’s not worth the potential exposure to COVID-19. “Child after child, door after door: That allows germs to linger and more opportunities for transmission,” Carlson said.

Maverick Theatre Company

UTA’s Maverick Theatre Company was featured by Fort Worth CultureMap in a list titled “These are the 11 best things to do in Fort Worth this weekend.” The company will present Moving Forward: A Devised New Work, a new musical theater piece created in a collaboration between Broadway guest artists and students from the Theatre Arts and Dance Department. It will be available to stream through Sunday.
