Health Professions Advisory Committee (HPAC) Applications

The Health Professions Advisory Commitee (HPAC) provides students applying to medical or dental school in the upcoming cycle an opportunity to obtain a Letter of Recommendation from an HPAC Committee Member. This is also referred to as a Committee Letter. The HPAC process allows students to become familiar with the medical school or dental school application process. Competative applicants will also have the opportunity to participate in an interview, providing practice for medical or dental school admission interviews.

Health Professions Advisory Committee Process

HPAC applications for upcoming cycle open December 16th, 2019 and close on February 16th, 2020 at 11:59PM CST

Apply: 2020 HPAC Application (EY 2021)

ELIGIBLITY & REAPPLICANTS:

All alumni and current UTA students with a minimum Overall GPA of a 3.25 applying to medical or dental school in the upcoming cycle are welcome to apply. (MAV ID number will be required) Students must also show evidence of an upward trend in GPA in recent coursework.

Note: Non-Degree Seeking Post Bacc or Second Bacc students, must have a minimum UTA Post Bacc GPA of a 3.6 with a strong Science GPA regardless of the first degree's GPA. Please see below for Applicant Selection Criteria.

Students should create an account with the application service(s) they will be using to apply to professional school(s). (TMDSAS, AMCAS, AACOMAS, AADSAS) There will be a section on the application and Letter of Recommendation Evaluation Form to include your unique ID number(s).

REAPPLICANTS with HPAC Acceptance from previous year- Students that were accepted to HPAC prior to 2019, have the option to reuse the same HPAC letter for their current cycle or contact their HPAC letter writer and see if they are willing to update their letter. Starting for the 2020-2021 cycle, letters will include the cycle year with ranking. Students can request the same letter for future cycles, however, the date and content of the letter will not be changed. If a student would like an updated HPAC letter with a new date, ranking and cycle year, they will need to reapply to HPAC. Note: Reapplicants that were previously accepted and reapply are NOT guaranteed a letter.

REAPPLICANTS- Students that were not accepted last year are welcome to re-apply for the upcoming cycle. Re-applicants should provide evidence of growth from their previous application much like they would need to for their medical or dental school application. Reapplicants can re-use 2 of the 3 letters from last year. However, updated letters are highly recommended.
