Community Engagement Opportunities

The Museum of Information Technology's mission is to preserve artifacts of information processing technology and to present these to the public, thereby increasing public understanding of the IT field in general and the role of Texas and Texans in its history. We look forward to being a major feature in the Arlington, Texas arts and cultural scene, to contributing to the Arlington tourism community and to benefiting the community by educating its members about the history of information processing technology.

The National Kidney Foundation is a major voluntary health organization dedicated to the eradication of kidney and urinary tract diseases.

Tasks Available for UTA Students
Camp Reynal for Kids, organ donor awareness, medical research, public and professional education, and emergency patient assistance. Volunteers needed for office work and event coordination. No volunteer training required.

In collaboration with United Way and Meals On Wheels, Inc., Neighbor Helping Neighbor (NHN) serves to reduce the effects of senior isolation by facilitating service delivery, building a sustainable network of volunteers and service providers and providing case management to those in need.

Volunteers and professionals from neighborhood and church groups, city government, businesses and human service organizations are all involved in providing a variety of services.

Neuro Assistance Foundation is dedicated to assisting spinal cord injured and disabled individuals in the greater Dallas/Fort Worth area to achieve self-sufficiency and mobility through assistive vehicles, equipment, technology and home modifications.

NAF needs volunteers for every aspect of our organization and for a wide array of jobs, including fundraising event planning, database administration and design, web page construction, marketing assistance, grant writing, program development, and outcome measurements.

On the Road Lending is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 2013 that provides vehicle selection assistance and long-term financial mentoring to address a little understood, but substantial problem—providing a way for low-income individuals to overcome transportation barriers so they can get to work, lead a healthier life, and avoid predatory lending. We help people improve their credit and purchase fuel-efficient, reliable cars, financing them ourselves with a low-cost loan.

Community Outreach, Marketing and Promotion

Open Arms Health Clinic was conceived by Christian health professionals to help the many families and individuals in our community with limited access to affordable healthcare. Our 2,500 square foot clinic includes six exam rooms, a 20-seat lobby, a children's reading room, a staff lunchroom and a small conference room. In this compact space, a rotating group of volunteers - doctors, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, med techs, social workers, interpreters and office staff – work hard to give patients compassionate, quality care.

Donations and grants supply 100% of our medical supply costs, technology and utilities. Each week, our clinic is full of chronically ill patients who need consistent medical care. All are uninsured or underinsured and do not qualify for government healthcare programs. All too often, we have to turn patients away due to to lack of personnel, supplies or time.

The Perot Museum exists to inspire minds through nature and science. From on and off-site education to interacting with guests in our exhibits, our goal is to educate the public.

General Service Needs
Volunteers at the Perot Museum interact with guests in various exhibit halls and assist staff with everything from education classrooms, administrative duties, directing school groups, guest services, events, programs, and other various requests. There are a myriad of opportunities to volunteer with and help us inspire minds through nature and science!

There are a variety of volunteer opportunities for college students. The Perot Museum offers individual, year-round volunteering, group volunteering, and unpaid internships. PetPair matches and transports animals from overcapacity shelters nationwide to fosters. These fosters generate content, our pet adoption marketplace brings the adopters, and pets find their forever homes.
General Service Needs
We’re looking to partner with students & alumni at UTA to present a volunteer opportunity to provide temporary foster homes to at-risk animals in DFW. - What we do: We identify at-risk animals from overcapacity shelters and match them to foster caregivers who are able and willing to care for them temporarily until they find their forever homes. - What we need: We’d love to be added to your volunteer portal/listings for students and alumni, as well as share proactively more information about the volunteer fostering opportunity with your alumni. We’re happy to send along flyers and additional material – whatever is helpful for you to spread the word!
What tasks are available for UT Arlington students to help with?
Students and alumni will temporarily provide a home to the animal, playing with it, taking it on walks, and proactively adding content and searching for prospective adopters in their network.

Portfolio Resident Services, Inc., a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide quality social assistance to residents of affordable housing communities through programs designed to raise culture and family standards. PRS designs, staffs, implements, and tracks programs that proactively assist residents in both the short and long term.

General Service Needs
We are seeking four to five reoccurring student leaders from UT Arlington to plan and implement after-school activities for the Good Neighbor Program at my apartment complex.
This program is geared towards children from low-income families. Every weekday excluding Thursdays, we provide catered hot meals for our kids, administer homework assistance as needed, and aim to provide enriching and fun games as well as arts & crafts at our "Kids Club". This program is completely free for the families residing on our property.

Tasks Available for UTA Students
Plan and implement activities for a group of 15-20 kids in kindergarten-middle school on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.

Available hours are Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 3:30-5 PM.
