On April 21, Mavericks from around the world came together to give $883,882 to The University of Texas at Arlington during MavsDay, setting a record for dollars raised during the annual day of giving. More than 600 donors made gifts in support of scholarships, athletics, academics, student life and other areas of vital importance.

“I can’t think of a better way to begin my time as president than seeing this inspiring display of support for the University,” UTA President Jennifer Cowley said. “Thank you to the hundreds of Mavericks who united to make life-changing impacts for UTA students.”

For 24 hours, alumni, staff, faculty, parents, and friends donated, reached out to friends and spread the word on social media in support of the day. The campaign was also fueled by the generosity of several challenge and matching gift donors, whose philanthropy encouraged fellow Mavericks to follow in their footsteps.

Alumnus and College of Science Advisory Council Chair Michael Ray (’81 PhD, Mathematical Science; ’78 MA, ’76 BS, Mathematics) and his wife, Wanda, donated to support scholarships for College of Science students. Their gift was one of many that helped reach a $25,000 matching gift challenge goal.

“As an alumnus and donor, I have seen firsthand how scholarships transform lives,” Dr. Ray said. “We’re so pleased to see how our gift made a difference on MavsDay.”

Since 2019, UTA supporters have consistently broken records for giving on MavsDay, showcasing the enduring enthusiasm Mavericks have for supporting the University and its students.
