New alumni

UTA conferred degrees to more than 5,200 graduate candidates in commencement ceremonies Dec. 12-14 at College Park Center, U.S. Fed News reported. The newest graduates will join about 240,000 UTA alumni.

Lifetime achievement

Daniel Armstrong, the Robert A. Welch Distinguished Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UTA, has been named the winner of the 2020 Lifetime Achievement in Chromatography Award by LC GC, Mirage News reported.

Women in STEM

Lauren Anne St. John, associate chair for clinical education in the UTA College of Nursing and Health Innovation, was interviewed by Penny Bauder with Thrive Global as an inspirational woman in STEM. St. John offered her perspective on improving the U.S. education system.

Cost of sprawl

A study conducted at UTA’s Center for Transportation Equity, Decisions & Dollars that uncovered the quality-of-life concerns associated with urban sprawl, such as food deserts and deprivation of interaction with nature was highlighted in a segment on Your Health with Dr. Richard and Cindy Becker covering the importance of healthy food and regular activity to improve wellness.
