Extreme heat warning system
Researchers from The University of Texas at Arlington are partnering with Iowa State University and the University of Northern Iowa to develop tools capable of giving people in higher-risk neighborhoods more time to prepare for dangerous heat, Radio Iowa and News Radio 1040 reported.
Civil engineering fellow
The Board of Direction of the American Society of Civil Engineers has named Sharareh (Sherri) Kermanshachi, a University of Texas at Arlington associate professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, as a fellow, reports Education Daily Report. Kermanshachi’s research focuses on resilient infrastructures, autonomous vehicles and risk analysis.
