UTA alumnus Kelcy Warren has made a historic $12 million gift to the College of Engineering, the Dallas Morning News and WBAP report.

Environmental Impact

There are concerns over the environmental impact artificial intelligence tools could have, News Africa Now reports. A study published in part by Mohammad Islam, UTA assistant professor of computer science and engineering, found that the clean freshwater footprint needed to train one ChatGPT model is around 700,000 liters, or enough to produce nearly 400 BMW cars.

Sparking Economic Growth

UTA is part of a 30-member network to receive a $1 million National Science Foundation award, U.S. Fed News reports. The funding aims to help partners collaborate to transform logistics and create economic opportunities in member regions.
