The University of Texas at Arlington is inviting Mavericks near and far to connect and celebrate spring 2020 graduates virtually.

Students, family, friends and the public can join the Cheers! To the Class of 2020 online celebration at 7:30 p.m. on May 17, with a pre-show beginning at 7:20 p.m. The celebration will air live and be available across UTA’s social media networks.

All graduates are invited to show their Maverick pride by posting a photo or video to social media, using #ForeverMaverick. Submissions posted by May 16 will have a chance to be featured in the live event.

“Our graduates have worked so hard to reach this milestone,” said Lisa Nagy, vice president of student affairs. “While it is different than we pictured, all of UTA—our professors, the staff members and fellow students—want to honor their graduation and make this time very special, even if we cannot physically be together to celebrate.”

The virtual, one-night-only event will include messages from across campus, unique performances and special memories.

UTA is still planning to provide an in-person commencement with a formal virtual ceremony option when circumstances and health guidelines allow for it. More information will be provided at a later date once plans are finalized.

Please check the UTA Commencement FAQs page for more details on the virtual event and other graduation related questions.
