Four School of Social Work students were honored last month during the 2nd Annual Graduating Student Veteran Recognition Luncheon.

The four are among 42 military veterans who graduated this month or will graduate in summer or fall.

An SSW professor, Pamela Fox, and one of the School’s undergraduate program advisors, Arrione Clarke, also were honored during the Veteran Recognition Luncheon. Clark and Dr. Fox were recognized for positively impacting the lives of the veterans.

They each received a UTA Military and Veteran Services Challenge coin from the student who nominated them for the recognition.

The four Social Work students, Jamar Gorman, Antoine Gray, Prinston Hill and Diandra Poe, received military honor cords to wear at commencement.

Gorman’s degree, a master of social work, was conferred last week. Gray’s, a bachelor of social work, also was conferred last week. Gray is a member of the champion Movin’ Mavs wheelchair basketball team. He graduated with magna cum laude honors.

Veterans Hill and Poe will complete their studies and graduate in commencement ceremonies in the summer or fall, says James Kumm, executive director of the Office of Military and Veteran Services.
