Fall 2022 Non-Pay Cancellation Policy FAQ

Thank you for reaching out to the Office of Student Accounts. Here are some frequently asked questions regarding the non-pay cancellation policy.

What happens if I do not pay my automated installment plan payments?

If you fail to pay your automated installment plan by the scheduled due date, a financial hold may be placed on your student account, preventing you from registering for future classes, requesting transcripts, or receiving your diploma. You may also be charged a $25.00 late fee each month your balance remains past due.

What if I no longer want to take the classes?

It is your responsibility to officially withdraw if you do not plan to attend after registering. Students will not be automatically dropped for non-payment or non-attendance.

When is the last day I can drop before being financially responsible?

All students dropping and/or withdrawing for any reason on or after the first-class day of the session may be financially responsible for their pro-rata share of tuition, fees, and charges. What happens if I receive financial aid, after my tuition is placed on the automated installment plan?

Any financial aid and or other financial support that you receive that is eligible to pay tuition will apply towards the installment plan.

What happens if my residency status changes, after my classes are on the automated installment plan?

If your residency status changes and your tuition charges adjust, the installment plan will adjust as well, and you will be able to see your new installments in your MyMav Account.

Can I get my future classes on the automated installment plan, without paying off my previous semester’s installments, first?

Yes, effective Fall 2022 your tuition and fees will automatically be on the automated installment plan. Students who are enrolled in an Accelerated Online program, owe a debt to the State of Texas, or have a previous optional payment plan with an outstanding balance are not eligible for Optional Payment Plans. Past due balances cannot be included in the plan. Click the link below for Accelerated Online information.

If I add/drop a class, will my automated installment plan charges automatically update?

Yes, your automated installment plan charges will automatically update, and you will be able to see your new installments in your MyMav Account.

Is there a fee or charge for being put on an automated installment payment plan?

No, there is not a fee for the automatic Installment Plan.

Is there interest associated with the automated installment payment plan?

No, there is no interest charged or associated with the automatic installment plan.

Is there a penalty for paying off the automated installment plan early or in full prior to my due dates?

No, there is no penalty for paying the installment plan off prior to the due dates.

Can I choose a different payment plan or create my own payment arrangement?

You may be eligible for other, optional payment plans. Click the Tuition Payment Plan link below to see available plans.

I have a TIN hold on my account, am I still eligible to be placed on the automated installment plan?

Yes, you are eligible for the automated installment plan even if you have a TIN hold on your account. Students who are enrolled in an Accelerated Online program, owe a debt to the State of Texas, or have a previous optional payment plan with an outstanding balance are not eligible for Optional Payment Plans. I am an accelerated online student, why was I not placed on an automated installment plan?

Students in the Accelerated Online program are subject to different program rules and are responsible for understanding the tuition and fee rates, policies, and requirements unique to this program. Please click the link below to visit the Accelerated Online Programs site for additional details.

Are my charges for housing, meal plans, etc. included in this new payment plan?

No, only Tuition and Fees are included in the automated installment plan.

Previous semesters, I used the enrollment plan to secure my classes. Is that still an option?

You may be eligible for an optional payment plan like the Enrollment Loan, but you do not need to enroll in an optional payment plan to secure enrollment. Effective Fall 2022, all students not in the Accelerated Online program will be on an automated installment plan and no longer dropped from classes for non-payment. Accelerated Online students are subject to different program rules and are responsible for understanding the tuition rates, policies, and requirements unique to the program.
