Tuition, fees, and charges are charged by session and are assessed to students based on enrolled semester credit hours, a set charge per term, or specific services. They are required of all students, charged to everyone taking specific courses or anyone receiving specific services, or charged only for voluntary products or services. Tuition, fees, and charges are subject to change by legislative or regental action and become effective on the date enacted and will be reflected in tuition, fees, and charges assessed. The Texas Legislature does not set the specific amount for any particular student fee. Tuition, fees, and charges are authorized by state statute; however, the specific amounts and the determination to increase the fees and charges are made by The University of Texas at Arlington administration and The University of Texas System Board of Regents.
Undergraduate students who enrolled under the Fall 1999 or subsequent catalogs may be required to pay non-resident tuition rates when they exceed 45 hours more than is required to complete the degree program for which the student is enrolled. A doctoral student may be required to pay non-resident tuition beginning the first long semester in which
a) the student has been enrolled previously as a graduate student for 14 or more long semesters, AND
b) the student has accumulated more than 99 semester credit hours of doctoral study at UT Arlington.
Students exceeding both limits may not be eligible for assistantships supported by state funds.
Resident undergraduate students who enroll in a course that is substantively identical to a course for which they have previously completed may be required to pay a higher tuition rate, not to exceed the rate charged to non-resident undergraduate students.

As a result of actions taken by the Texas Legislature to address affordability in higher education, all resident undergraduate academic costs, including tuition, mandatory academic fees, all academic-related general fees, and college course fees, have been frozen for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 academic years.
Based on the student referendum, Resolution 24-03, “Renovate & Renew,” the student union fee will increase to $150 per semester beginning with Fall 2024.
