Apply to the Honors College

If you have been automatically invited to join the Honors College, you must accept the invitation by filling out the acceptance form that was in your invitation. Before you apply to the Honors College, you must be admitted to or currently attending the University of Texas at Arlington as an undergraduate student. If you have not yet applied for admissions to UTA, please contact the Office of Admissions for more information on the UTA application process. Spring 2026 Deadlines

• Incoming transfer students and current UTA students are only eligible to apply for the spring semester.
• The application for Spring 2026 opens on September 4, 2025.
• The deadline to apply for Spring 2026 is December 31, 2025.
• Admission notification between January 8 - 10, 2026.

Fall 2026 Deadlines

• If you are an incoming first-time freshman or transfer student for Fall 2026 and want to be eligible to register for Honors-designated courses during your summer New Maverick Orientation session, you must submit a completed application by February 15, 2026.
• Priority admissions notification between March 23 - 27, 2026.
• The final application deadline to join the Honors College for Fall 2026 is June 30, 2026*.
• Admission notification between July 14 - 31, 2026.

Starting the Application Process

1. Create an account at https://utahonorscollege.smapply.io
2. Complete the application questions
3. Upload your academic résumé (an example is provided on the application)
4. Upload your essay that fully answers the prompt
5. Input the email of someone who can write a recommendation letter on your behalf
6. Click submit and check your status in the application system.

* Fall 2026 students applying in this cycle will be eligible to begin their Honors coursework in the Fall semester; however, they will only be able to enroll in Honors-designated courses if spaces are available.

Note: Applications will briefly close for a few days after each deadline for the application verification process.

Applications are not reviewed until after the above deadlines and decisions will be sent to students' UTA email addresses 1-2 weeks after the deadline has passed or otherwise noted in the deadlines listed above.

We are unable to offer admissions to students in programs offered exclusively through distance learning (fully-online programs), the Accelerated Online (AO), or online Academic Partnerships (AP) degree plans due to our Honors program requirements.
