The Honors First Year Experience

New for 2026

The UTA Honors College is thrilled to announce its new Honors First-Year Experience (HFYE). Designed to accelerate the transition into college, HFYE includes exciting Honors designated courses, social and academic events, experiential learning opportunities, and much more.

HFYE begins with special Honors-only orientations to both UTA and the College. This ensures they are becoming comfortable with our campus, College, and community before day one of classes. They are informed of the cool and unique resources for experiences like study abroad, service, research, and professionalization that truly engage top students.

All first-year students enjoy up to nine credits of small honors courses uniquely tailored to the interests and curiosity of our students. During the Fall, students take six credits (less if coming in with significant college coursework) where they deeply engage ideas in an intimate honors format. In the Spring, students continue in another Honors course and begin deep engagement with experiential learning opportunities. There are special events and opportunities available throughout this entire year.

Upon completion of HFYE, students become proud graduates of the UTA First-Year Honors Program and then continue on with their Honors journey.
