Presidential Scholarship

Presidential Scholars are selected from incoming freshmen with demonstrated outstanding academic performance. A UTA Presidential Scholar will receive a $10,000 award annually; up to $40,000 over four years of eligibility.

Every incoming freshman will receive a holistic review by the Scholarship Committee of their academic record for scholarship consideration.  A variety of factors are considered using a combination of academic qualifications such as high school rank, GPA, test scores and difficulty of high school courses. Submission of an SAT or ACT test score is required to be considered for this scholarship.

The academic profile of a typical Presidential Honors Scholar will include a combination of the following qualifications below:

  • Top 15% High School Rank
  • 3.9 High School GPA (on an unweighted 4.0 scale calculated by UTA’s Admissions Office)
  • A minimum 1400 SAT or 31 ACT
  • Holistic review of a student’s academic profile and difficulty of high school courses completed

This scholarship includes the non-resident waiver for students that are not residents of the State of Texas. This reduces the amount charged for tuition and fees to the level paid by in-state residents for up to four years if the student remains in good academic standing for the duration of the scholarship.

Note: Consideration for merit-based scholarships is a highly competitive process. Meeting the requirements for this scholarship guarantees the applicant will be considered but does not guarantee an award. Students are offered the highest scholarship value they are eligible to receive based on their academic credentials and available funds.
