Grad Cap and Grad Photo Contest

To enter the Grad Cap Contest:

Send a picture of your decorated cap to socialmedia@uta.edu. Entrants are asked to identify their entries by putting "Spring 2024 Grad Cap Contest” in the email subject line.

To enter the Grad Photo Contest:

Submit a picture of a Spring 2024 graduating UTA Maverick and list “Spring 2024 Grad Photo Contest”. Emails MUST be from an @mavs.uta.edu email address and include your first and last name, major, and (for the grad cap contest) what your cap design means to you.

Graduate Checklist

  1. Apply for graduation by: Friday, March 1st
  2. Order your regalia and Commencement memorabilia by: Thursday, March 28th
  3. Prepare for guest ticket offer: Monday, April 22nd
  4. Register and complete your Graduate profile in Marching Order: Wednesday, March 6th - Monday, April 15th
  5. Apply for Maverick Advantage: Monday, April 15
  6. Enter the Grad Cap Contest: Wednesday, April 10th - Friday, April 26th
  7. Vote in the Grad Cap Contest: Monday, April 29th - Friday, May 3rd
  8. Access and print your grad pass from Marching Order: Wednesday, May 8th
  9. Bring your printed grad pass to your ceremony: Friday, May 10th
  10. Complete First Destination Survey: Friday, April 5th - Saturday, October 5th

What time to arrive

Graduates should plan to arrive at Globe Life Field 75 minutes before their ceremony. The doors will open 60 minutes before each ceremony for guests.

ADA accommodations

UTA commencements at Globe Life Field are fully equipped to create an accessible experience for guests and graduates. If you need handicap parking accommodations, ask parking attendants for directions. For more specific questions, contact Globe Life Field at 817-533-1972.

Prohibited items for guests and graduates

  • Alcohol not purchased from the event or illegal drugs/substances
  • Animals (except service animals)
  • Backpacks, including clear backpacks
  • Bags larger than 16 x 16 x 8 inches
  • Banners or signs that are not in good taste, obstruct another guest’s view, or are not event-related
  • Banners that are permitted may not contain commercial messages, logos or political endorsements and may not be hung from or affixed to ballpark structures
  • Beach balls or balloons
  • Binocular Cases
  • Camera Cases
  • Clothing with offensive or profane language as deemed by Texas Rangers management
  • Coolers of any kind
  • Disorderly conduct
  • Drinks, with the exception of one sealed unflavored bottled water less up to 1 liter
  • Fireworks
  • Food, except in a clear quart sized sealable bag. 1 bag per Guests
  • Glitter, confetti or rice
  • Glass or Metal Containers
  • Camera Lenses longer than 8 inches
  • Laser pointers
  • Littering
  • No Smoking (including e-cigarettes, vapes or any other smoking device) inside the structure of Globe Life Field
  • Noisemakers
  • Signs on poles or sticks, or constructed of wood or metal material
  • Tripods, monopods and selfie-sticks
  • Use of drones or other unmanned and remote-controlled aircraft systems
  • Weapons of any kind, even if properly permitted or registered, including Pepper Spray and Pocket Knives

How To - UTA Commencement

ACADEMIC DEADLINES AND ELIGIBILITY FOR GRADUATION

Students are eligible to participate in their commencement ceremony if they apply for graduation by the deadline and if they have completed all of the requirements for their degree program or will have completed all of those requirements by the end of the graduation term. After Spring 2024 commencement, graduates may only defer their participation in commencement for one semester. Spring 2024 graduates may only defer to Fall 2024 commencement, and any UTA alumni that graduated prior to Spring 2024 will be ineligible to participate in future commencement ceremonies.
