About The McDowell Center


The mission of the Charles T. McDowell Center for Global Studies is to support and develop programs to enhance global competencies, cross-cultural understanding, academic achievement, and community engagement.


We aim to create meaningful opportunities for student and faculty advancement in global contexts.


Cultural Competence:
We foster cultural competence by funding projects and programs that prioritize language acquisition, cultural exchange, and community integration.

Curiosity and Research:
We ask questions so that we can increase our understanding of the world's myriad cultures.

The Charles T. McDowell Center for Global Studies was founded in 2010 as a result of a generous endowment by Mrs. Betty Ruch and her late husband Roger in honor of their long-time friend, Dr. Charles T. McDowell.
