Temporary Housing

In general, three options exist for students who require temporary housing accommodations ahead of their apartment or residence hall move-in days. Please note, UTA Housing does NOT offer temporary housing during the winter break for students moving into locations in January.

Meal Plan / Mav Money

Students staying in Temp Housing will be required to have a Meal Plan while staying in KC Hall that will be given to the student in Mav Money and can be used with their UTA ID. Students are now required to add funds to their MAV ID Card using Mav Money, as our office will no longer be loading funds on behalf of students.

Recommended Funding Amount:

  • For stays of 5 days or more: Please add $200
  • For stays of 4 days or less: Please add $100

Please note that Mav Money does not expire and may be used beyond your Temporary Housing stay for campus dining, bookstore purchases, printing and copying services, as well as select off-campus restaurants and merchants.

Steps to Add Mav Money:

  1. Visit https://get.cbord.com/uta
  2. Log in using your UTA credentials
  3. On the overview page, click the green “Add Funds” button
  4. Select your payment method and enter the desired amount
  5. Follow the prompts to complete your transaction

Once the transaction is complete, funds will be available for immediate use.

This process allows you to manage your own dining and campus-related expenses with flexibility and convenience. While the decision to add funds is ultimately up to you, this is the only method available for purchasing meals during your stay in Temporary Housing.

If you have any questions or require assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the Guest Services office.

Other UTA students are often willing to accommodate a guest temporarily. Students seeking temporary housing may contact a student organization related to their interest, and student organization representatives may be able to connect them with other students living in Arlington. For a directory of student organizations, please visit here.

Important: Students who live, even temporarily, with other students in University Housing should be aware that UTA has specific policies regarding Occupancy Limits and Guest Registration. Failure to adhere to these policies may result in a student conduct violation and may be just cause for removal from University Housing.
