University Housing is committed to working closely with parents and family members to provide information, resources, and support in making your student's housing plans and helping them be successful throughout their college career.
UT Arlington has several offices and partners on campus committed to connecting students with each other, their professors, and the campus, in general, to help them succeed. We encourage parents to stay involved and work with our University faculty and staff should they need anything.
How to Get Involved
There are many ways parents participate on campus including, becoming a member of our Maverick Parent & Family Association, a network of parents and families committed to their students' success. The association hosts a yearly Parent & Family Weekend in October, and University Housing offers open houses and other exciting programs throughout the weekend.
The Benefits of Living on Campus
LIVE AND LEARN
Students living on campus are more likely to earn higher GPAs, complete degrees on time, and even pursue advanced degrees. Living on campus keeps students connected to caring administrators and faculty who work to meet students' needs 24/7. Help your student get ahead by being close to the resources they need to excel.
Making friends is easiest when you don’t have to go out of your way to find them. In our residence halls and apartment communities, students live close to peers going through many of the same things as them. Additionally, with regularly scheduled activities that build community spirit, getting acquainted is easy – it's right at their front door!
With more than 6,000 students living on campus, there are always opportunities for involvement, both academically and socially. Students can join any of our more than 290 student organizations, engage in more than 800 ARL-led events, be a part of a Residence Learning Community (RLC), or get involved with intramural sports. There’s never a shortage of things to do, and living on campus means it’s convenient. Not only that but being involved enhances the co-curricular experiences a student needs to be successful.
In 20 minutes or fewer, students can get to any classroom, a basketball game, multiple dining locations and coffee shops, a treadmill or climbing wall, University libraries, theatre productions, and performances by comedians and music groups. Throw in beloved Maverick traditions like Bed Races, Oozeball, and Homecoming, and your student will have the time of their life.
Finals Care Package
As the semester winds down, parents of current student residents will receive a flyer in the mail about the option to send their student a finals care package with stress relief items, snacks, and other goodies.
Residents who have a finals care package purchased for them will be notified and are typically surprised to receive the package wishing them good luck on their finals and a special note from mom or dad!
As purchases are made available, University Housing will share more information.
