Program Types
Affiliate Programs
An affiliate program is offered by a 3rd party provider that has a direct relationship with UTA. By going through an affiliate program, you can get UTA credit and receive pass or fail grades. All fees and tuition are paid directly to the provider, but you can still use financial aid as long as you meet the credit requirements. Affiliate programs are offered during all terms and include options for international internships.
Exchange Programs
UTA partners with 19 different universities around the world, offering a variety of academic disciplines through our reciprocal exchange programs. Students participating in reciprocal exchange programs earn UTA resident credit, and grades are recorded as regular letter grades. Students pay tuition to UTA, while housing and other related costs are paid directly to the host institution abroad. Exchange programs are offered for either a single semester, or a full academic year in most cases.
Faculty-Led Programs
Faculty-led programs are short-term study abroad experiences organized and led by UTA professors, typically during the Maymester, summer, or winter terms. You can earn academic credit while exploring course topics in an international context, often through site visits, cultural activities, and hands-on learning. Designed to align with specific majors or interests, faculty-led programs offer a supportive group experience and are a great option if you are seeking a structured and immersive global opportunity!
Non-UTA Programs
While UTA offers more than 500 unique programs, sometime students find programs that are not on UTA's list of approved programs. While it is possible to participate in such an experience as an independent student, it's important to note a few things:
- You will not be enrolled at UTA during the term of your program, and may need to apply for readmission
- You would not be eligible to receive UTA financial aid or scholarships
- You will need to work independently with the Registrar and your advisor to determine how and if credits will transfer to UTA
- UTA Study Abroad is unable to sign any forms related to your participation
We strongly encourage all UTA students to participate in an approved program!
