Maverick Bridge Doctoral Fellowship Program

Program Purpose

The Maverick Bridge Doctoral Fellowship supports talented new applicants to doctoral programs who are interested in educating and mentoring disadvantaged or underrepresented undergraduate and graduate students.

Award Information and Application Deadline

The benefits of the program are tuition support and a stipend for two years (including Summer terms.)

Maverick Bridge Fellowship applications are accepted for new doctoral students enrolling in Fall semesters.

The deadline to apply is April 30.

Applicant Eligibility

These fellowships are reserved for applicants seeking to enroll in a doctoral program at UT Arlington. They must be US citizens or US Permanent Residents and eligible for admission to the doctoral program of study they intend to pursue.

Application Process

Applicants must:

  1. Complete and submit the online application for admission to a doctoral bound or doctoral program at UT Arlington.
  2. Submit the following to their department's graduate advisors: A cover letter requesting consideration for the Graduate Dean’s Doctoral Bridge Scholarship;
    1. An essay to on their educational and professional goals in pursuing doctoral studies and describing their involvement in organizations or groups that have a focus on disadvantaged or underrepresented groups and how their perspectives will contribute to their academic and professional goals.

Academic departments will review applications and forward their nominees to the graduate school for final selection.
