No Show Day (Res Halls)

Students who have requested a residence hall space but have not received a contract offer prior to the start of fall classes are encouraged to participate in “No Show Day”. No Show Day begins on the first day of classes. This may be a good option for applicants who live within commuting distance of the campus and are able to delay residence hall move in until after the first day of classes for the fall term.

Every year, students have until 5 p.m. on the night before classes to check-in to the residence halls; otherwise, they are considered a “No Show”. Every year a limited number of students fail to move in as required, resulting in last-minute contract cancellations. University Housing then makes these beds available - first to students in Overflow Housing and then to applicants on the No Show Day waitlist.

Residence hall applicants without a contract must fill out the No Show Day preference information in their AY 2022-2023 application if they desire No Show Housing. To apply for an available No Show bed space, log into your AY 2022-23 Housing Application to access the No Show preference page beginning August 17th, 2022 at 10 a.m. 

If you are assigned a space on No Show Day, you will be notified by email after 1 p.m. on the first day of class. If you do not accept and sign the contract and pay the deposit by 8 a.m. the following business day, your offer will be cancelled, and the space will be offered to another student on the waitlist.

Additional information about No Show Housing Contracts:

  1. If you are assigned a space, an email will be sent to your UTA email address with instructions on how to accept the contract and make your first payment(s).

  2. You MUST electronically sign the housing and meal plan contract and pay the $150 deposit online by 8am the day following notification of contract offer. If you fail to complete these requirements as noted, your housing contract will be cancelled, and the space will be offered to another student on the waitlist.

  3. You MUST pay your first housing installment and first meal plan installment prior to moving in. Housing costs are available for review here. Traditional meal plan costs are available for review here. Installment payment costs are noted in the chart below.

  4. Any first-time students who plan to live on campus must comply with the meningitis vaccination requirements at least 10 days prior to move in. For more information on the meningitis vaccination requirements, go to here. If your move in is delayed for failure to comply with this requirement, please note that you are still responsible for the financial obligations of the contract.

  5. You must be enrolled full-time to be offered a contract.

  6. Priority for assignment of applicants on the No Show Day Waitlist will be based on initial date of residence hall application if the No Show Day preference page is completed prior to 11 a.m. on August 22, 2022; otherwise, priority is based on the date and time the No Show Day form is submitted.

  7. If you are not assigned a room on No Show Day, you will remain on the No Show Day waitlist for space which may become available later.

  8. The No Show Day Waitlist will be discarded after everyone has been offered a space or is no longer interested. After this waitlist is depleted, all assignments will be made first-come, first-serve. Because space is limited, assignment is not guaranteed.

  9. Our priority is to find you an accommodation on campus that meets your needs based on space availability, but we cannot guarantee to meet your preferences. We only make one offer to students on the no show waitlist before we move to the next person.

  10. Occasionally, students move out and vacancies become available throughout the semester, so check back often if you have temporary accommodation and still desire a bed in University Housing.

  11. Mid-semester move-ins, and room or building changes are permitted as space is available.
