The Ideal Protégé: Attracting Mentors

Research in organizational behavior has found that high performers are likely to attract mentors that want to invest in them and their growth. In this live online workshop, Dr. Wendy Casper, winner of the 2019-2020 Excellence in Doctoral Student Mentoring Award, will provide recommendations to graduate students on how to succeed at attracting mentors who will want to invest in their success.

Strategies for Developing a Successful Graduate Mentor-Mentee Relationship

An interactive, dynamic, and structured relationship with your graduate mentor can have major impacts on your success in graduate school and your career thereafter. Understanding how to foster such productive interactions requires an understanding of the perspectives of both mentor and mentee, as well as the willingness of both sides to communicate effectively and work together for common goals. In this live online workshop Dr. Todd Castoe, winner of the 2020-2021 Excellence in Doctoral Student Mentoring Award, will discuss common fundamental challenges in these relationships and outline key strategies for overcoming these challenges and building successful and productive mentor-mentee relationships. He will also discuss challenges and ideas for maintaining these relationships while working remotely during a global pandemic.

Strategies for Graduate Student Success Workshop

Compromised health and wellness can negatively impact student success. An unbalanced approach to graduate work and study may significantly limit productivity and performance. Join us as the Healing Collective leaders Sarah Herrera and Craig Keaton present with Regina Praetorius, Professor in the School of Social Work, a live online workshop designed to teach to concepts and practices to promote greater success in graduate school.

Creating Space for Your Research Workshop

In this live online workshop, presented by 2021-2022 Excellence in Doctoral Student Mentoring Award winner Dr. James Warren, graduate students will learn how researchers use academic discourse to create space in the field for their own research. Students will acquire analysis skills they can apply both in their reading of previous research and in their written presentation of their own work.
