Professional Skills Academy (PSA)

Build the skills employers expect—and learn how to recognize them in your own experiences.

The Professional Skills Academy (PSA) is a multi-session professional development program designed to help students identify, develop, and articulate the core competencies that drive career success. Through guided discussions, hands-on activities, and peer collaboration, participants gain a deeper understanding of what professionalism looks like in practice and how to apply these skills across academic, work, and leadership experiences.

What You’ll Learn

Throughout the academy, students focus on essential career competencies that consistently show up in employer expectations:

Professionalism

Learn how your actions, communication, and mindset shape your personal brand. PSA emphasizes accountability, confidence, and consistency—skills that set you apart in any professional environment.

Career & Self-Development

Professional growth doesn’t stop at graduation. Students learn how to take initiative, seek feedback and mentorship, and continuously develop skills aligned with their goals.

Critical Thinking

Strong decision-making starts with thoughtful analysis. PSA helps students practice evaluating situations, asking meaningful questions, and considering multiple perspectives before taking action.

Teamwork & Communication

Collaboration is essential in every workplace. Participants strengthen their ability to listen actively, communicate clearly, and contribute effectively within team settings.

Leadership

Leadership isn’t about titles—it’s about impact. PSA explores how to motivate others, take ownership, and contribute to shared goals in both formal and informal leadership roles.
