BS Exercise Science - Clinical and Applied Physiology
The Clinical and Applied Physiology (CAP) Track of the BS in Exercise Science prepares students for graduate programs in physical therapy, medical school, physician assistant programs, pharmacy school, dental school, and other graduate programs. No matter what your post-graduation plans may be, you will have the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in science-based graduate programs, or pursue a career in health professions such as cardiac rehabilitation, diabetes education, clinical exercise physiology, among many others.
The CAP track prepares students for advanced degrees in health related fields and emphasizes formal science education in a context of human health science. Students who desire post-baccalaureate degrees such as physical therapy or medical degrees will find that the CAP track is able to accommodate a course of study that will satisfy graduate program prerequisites.
Students on this track are required to maintain a 3.0 cumulative and KINE GPA, determined by progress through KINE 3415, as well as achieve a B or better in KINE 1400 Introduction to Exercise Science. Failure to maintain the required GPA will require the student to select a different track. Formal requirements are listed in the catalog, linked in the Resources section below.
Advancing Physical Therapy Program
The Advancing Physical Therapy (APT) program is a partnership between UTA and the UT Southwestern Doctorate of Physical Therapy program that allows our students to gain preferred admission to the UT Southwestern Physical Therapy program. The UTA/UTSW APT program has a very limited number of seats; applications are competitive.
