Feeding Student Success

The Maverick Pantry is committed to creating and maintaining equitable access to food and essential items so that all members of the University Community can thrive academically, personally, and professionally. Education, support, and advocacy are the pillars that guide our mission in alleviating food insecurity within our Maverick community.

Our Services

Below are the following services we offer.

FOOD INSECURITY

Students who are experiencing food insecurity can utilize the Maverick Pantry to shop for food essentials and toiletry items. Hours of operation vary by each semester and are based on student schedules. Maverick’s must schedule a shopping appointment in order to shop the pantry. Period Product Locations at UTA can be found here: Locations

Food options vary based on donations received and all items are free of cost. UTA students, faculty, and staff, may utilize the pantry. Mavericks must have their MAV ID to utilize Maverick Pantry services.

Please note, shopping appointments are released on Monday's at 9:00AM for the entire week. While our goal is to ensure every Maverick can shop, appointments are limited and fill up extremely quickly.

The Maverick Pantry will close at the end of the spring and fall semester. Shopping appointments during these closures will be limited and can be made by emailing eaf@uta.edu. For additional support, please refer to the Food Resources section for more information. 

 

Food Resources

Pocket Pantries

The purpose of the Pocket Pantry program is to provide temporary relief to UTA students in need who are experiencing food insecurity by providing immediate access to non-perishable food and toiletries before directing them to additional support resources on campus. Pocket Pantries are located across campus in 3 locations. For questions, contact eaf@uta.edu.

Emergency Bags

Emergency bags of non-perishable food and hygiene items will be available in various departments around campus. This serves as immediate relief for students in need of food while the Maverick Pantry is closed.

  • Dean of Students (CARE team and Student Conduct)
  • UTA Police Department
  • CAPS Office
  • Health Services in Ransom Hall
  • Dan Dipert Welcome Center 
  • Foster Care Office 

Find Food Map

Tarrant Area Food Bank distributes food to pantries and other nonprofits across North Texas who are ready to serve those in need. If you or your loved ones need food, use the link below to find a local food pantry. Input their address, and it will locate the nearest food pantry around you. RED Bus

Our friends at Tarrant Area Food Bank have RED Bus events all around Arlington and Fort Worth! The purpose of the R.E.D. Bus is to provide resource assistance, nutrition education and nutritious food to communities with high levels of food insecurity. They facilitate the delivery of these resources through benefits enrollment (SNAP, CHIP, TANF, Healthy Texas Woman, WIC and Medicaid) and emergency food relief. STUDENT PARENTS

If you are a student parent facing food insecurity, please know that the Maverick Panty team is here to support you. We have a fully stocked section dedicated to baby food and formula, bottles, bibs, diapers, wipes, blankets, small toys, and many more items. We are here to support not only you but your family as well.

CAP AND GOWN RENTAL

Students who demonstrate financial need and cannot afford their cap and gown are encouraged to email EAF@UTA.EDU to inquire if cap and gowns are available to rent for graduation ceremony. Cap and gown rentals are available based on donations received.
