Social Media Platforms

UTA’s posts on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and Pinterest must follow the same electronic accessibility rules as our webpages

The most common issues are:

• add alternative text to images,
• ensure there is sufficient color contrast,
• ensure that all videos are captioned,
• ensure that text in images is repeated in the alt text or caption,
• and ensure that links are underlined.

Kara Gaulrapp, from the University of Pennsylvania, shared a PowerPoint Presentation that includes slides on adding alt text in Facebook (slide 17), Instagram (slide 18-19), and Twitter (slide 20) — all your answers in one place!
