Emergency Assistance Amount

  • Up to $300 maximum
  • Once per degree program
  • Awarded case-by-case at the discretion of Academic & Student Affairs

Repayment & Financial Aid

  • Funds do not need to be repaid
  • Receiving CARE funds may impact financial aid status
  • Students are encouraged to consult the UTA Financial Aid and Scholarships Office with questions

CARE Fund Requirements

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for CARE Fund assistance, students must:

  • Be enrolled in at least one course in the current semester
  • Have experienced a sudden and unforeseen emergency that creates financial hardship
  • Have exhausted university resources, including the UTA Student Emergency Fund through the Office of the Dean of Students

Important: Only students enrolled in UTA School of Social Work degree programs are eligible. Students in minors, certificates, or individual courses are not eligible.

CARE Fund Assistance

Expenses Not Covered

The CARE Fund cannot be used for the following expenses:

  • Tuition, lab fees, field fees, health insurance, or study abroad costs
  • Parking tickets or other university-imposed fines
  • Entertainment, recreation, non-emergency travel, or other non-essential expenses

How to Apply

  1. Complete the online CARE Fund application
  2. Applications are reviewed to determine eligibility
  3. Applicants may be asked to meet with the Associate Dean for Academic & Student Affairs (or their delegate) via:
  • Microsoft Teams
  • In-person
  • Phone call

Funding availability is limited, varies based on available resources, and not all requests can be funded
