MavsManager Foundations Program

The next session of MavsManager Foundations is scheduled for October 2026.

Effective managers seek to lead a team in an environment where there is alignment, collaboration, participatory decision making and consistent results. This cohort is designed to help you rethink your approach to teamwork and gain mastery of leading your team through foundational strategies, tools and knowledge. Graduates will have a better understanding of how a team solves challenges collectively, reconciles differences, exchanges feedback, and forms culture.

Program Design

Curriculum

MavsManager Foundations is an in-person action-learning experience that allows participants to explore and apply concepts in a cohort format.

Over the course of the program, participants will complete a total of 10 instructor-led sessions through group discussions, role-playing, and other activities. Each program will include no more than 30 leaders per cohort.

Learning Objectives

  • Discover strategies to foster team alignment and trust.
  • Implement the Situational Leadership Model by recognizing the Performance Readiness continuum and adjusting your leadership style to suit individual and team performance.
  • Enhance your conflict resolution skills by completing the Thomas Kilmann Conflict Mode assessment and practicing resolution techniques through scenario-based exercises.
  • Acquire practical skills to effectively coach individuals across various levels of performance scenarios.
  • Developing team talent through best practices in hiring, compensation, recruitment, and employee relations.
  • Address federal/state employment laws and UTA-specific policies in management to minimize liability.
  • Explore the dynamics of team engagement and effectively managing a multi-generational workforce.

Program Eligibility

To participate in the MavsManager Foundations Program, an employee must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a full-time leader in a formal supervisory role with multiple full-time benefits-eligible direct reports.
  • Be a supervisor who has 1-2 years of prior management experience.
  • Complete the MavsManager Foundations Program Application by Monday,          September 29, 2025, at 5pm.
  • The applicant's supervisor must submit the Supervisor Approval Form by Monday, September 29, 2025, at 5pm. The completion of the Supervisor Approval Form is necessary for your application to be considered.

Participation Attendance Guidelines

Participants are expected to attend classes regularly. Each session, including the kick-off, is approximately three hours long, resulting in a total program length of approximately 30 hours.

Employees who are interested in completing the program should review the MavsManager Foundations Program Schedule to ensure full participation during the scheduled sessions.

Graduation Requirements

Program participants are eligible for graduation by attending classes regularly, participating in class discussions and activities, and completing assigned tasks and inventories. Participants who miss more than one session will not be eligible to graduate from the program
