Valerie Adame received her BSW degree in 2013 and her MSW degree in 2018 from the University of Texas at Arlington. During her graduate program, she specialized in mental health and substance abuse, and had the amazing opportunity to complete her internship at a psychiatric hospital, working with patients ages 12 to 80. While completing her Master’s degree, she worked full time at the UTA as an administrative assistant supporting the office for Research and Faculty Affairs and the PhD program. While providing administrative support for the PhD program, she realized her passion for working with college students and helping them achieve their goals. In the future she hopes to continue to work in the college setting and to expand on her skills as a social worker to empower students.

Mark Frazier

Mark Frazier is a native of Greensboro, NC.  He received his Bachelor of Social Work degree from Shaw University in Raleigh, NC and Master of Social Work degree from North Carolina Central University.  Mark has 13 years of professional experience working with families, children, and adults in the Human Services and Social Services setting which includes Economic Services and Emergency Assistance.  He also served as a Licensed School Social Worker with NC State Board of Education. During his transition to Texas, Mark also worked as Family Based Safety Services Social Worker with Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (CPS).  Mark’s professional goal as an academic advisor at the University of Texas Arlington is to help each student follow an individualized path through the Social Work curriculum and empower that student to meet their personal, professional and academic goals.  Some of Mark’s hobbies include playing the piano, playing video games, listening to live music and watching movies.

Keiana Green is a native of Desoto, TX. Her educational background includes a Bachelors of Social Work from Prairie View A&M University. She also received her Masters of Social work from The University of Texas at Arlington. Keiana’s previous work experience includes working with children and families and in non-profit organizations. She worked at Scott’s House serving displaced teens coming through CPS Custody. Prior to coming to UTA she worked as a Client Case Manager serving older adults in effort to keep them thriving in their homes by getting them connected with community resources state benefit programs. . Keiana’s greatest passion is to help others tap into their passions and recognize that they are creative, resourceful, capable and whole. It is not where you come from that determines where you will go in life.

Maresia Davis

Maresia Davis received her Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree from UT Arlington in 2007. After graduating, she pursued a career as a Qualified Mental Health Professional at Metrocare Services in Dallas. She later enrolled in a dual master’s program at UTA to study Social Work and Public Policy while employed at Head Start of Greater Dallas as a Family Advocate. She graduated with a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree and with a Master of Public Policy (MPP) degree from UT Arlington. She transitioned from Head Start of Greater Dallas after providing services to children and families for over eight years to UT Arlington as a Graduate Academic Advisor and Adjunct Instructor. Her interests are grant writing, research, advocacy, and policy.

Toy Howard is a native Texan, born in Dallas, TX. Toy graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Social work from University of Texas at Arlington and later attended Texas A&M Commerce with where she obtained her Master’s degree in Social Work. Prior to coming to UTA Ms. Howard worked for the City of Dallas Office of Homeless Solutions for 2 years, assisting homeless individual’s in becoming self-sufficient. Ms. Howard worked for The Department of Family and Protective Services for 4 years where she investigated abuse, neglect and exploitation of the elderly, adults and teens with mental illnesses and physical disabilities. MS. Howard has always had a passion for helping individuals face their challenges while providing guidance and assistance in helping them to become successful. Tiara Thomas

Tiara Thomas, a New Jersey native, has been a graduate Advisor III at the University of Texas, Arlington (UTA) School of Social Work for four years and also serves as an adjunct professor. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership at the UTA College of Education. She attended the University of Maryland, Baltimore where she earned a Master’s degree in Social Work and Rutgers University where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. She is currently licensed by the Texas Board of Social Work Examiners as a master level social worker and serves as a staff advisor for the Iota Omega chapter of Phi Alpha Honor Society for Social Work. Tiara’s professional experience includes direct practice as a Child Protective Services investigator and parole officer.
