Wright Gift (graduate and undergraduate students):

  1. This fund will assist students who have merit and/ or need for funding that supports their exhibition and artwork materials costs as they present their work in the US and abroad, as well as other financial support needs.   

Jeffrey A Leuschel Endowed Scholarship (graduate students):

  1. College of Liberal Arts graduate students studying in the Masters of Fine Arts program, with preference going to students who are not Texas residents at the time of admission into the graduate program.
  2. Have demonstrated academic achievement by having graduated with an undergraduate degree and having achieved a cumulative minimum GPA of a 3.5 on a 4 point scale.

Michael G Purgason Endowment (undergraduate students):

  1. Student shall be an undergraduate junior or senior in the film program at the University of Texas at Arlington. Preference is given to undergraduate juniors in order to fulfill criteria 4.
  2. Student shall meet required minimum G.P.A of 3.00.
  3. Funds will be distributed as follows:
    a) 25% -- As a scholarship payable through the University's Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, and
    b) 75% -- As a general award to assist with the undertaking of a film project at the discretion of the Chair of the Art & Art History program and in consultation from the film program faculty. Payment of the award will only be in the form of reimbursements of appropriate, related expenses supported by receipts in line with the University's accounting policies. The total reimbursed will not exceed the amount of the either the scholarship/award or award given.
  4. Students who receive the award as junior are eligible to retain award funding for their senior year as long as all previous requirements are met.

Liddell Family Endowed Scholarship (graduate and undergraduate students)

  1. Shall be used to provide scholarship support to any student or students in Art & Art History at the discretion of the Chair of the Department of Art & Art History.

Professor Robert Hower Endowed Scholarship (undergraduate students)

  1. Incoming student who will major in Studio Art or Art History (freshman or junior level transfer student).
  2. A GPA requirement (3.0 +), examples of studio work or art history research supplemented by outstanding and/or significant evidence (i.e. a letter from their art instructor) of art program-community volunteer activities within their High School or Community College Art program.
  3. To maintain the scholarship, continued volunteer support within the department and successful progress towards a degree would be required.
  4. May be awarded for two to four years depending on whether they started as a Freshman or Junior.

Schira Family Glass Program Endowment (graduate and undergraduate students)

  1. Shall be used for the benefit of the UTA Glass Program within the Department of Art and Art History in the University's College of Liberal Arts.
  2. Funds distributed from the endowment shall be used to support graduate or undergraduate students in the UTA Glass Program at the discretion of the Director/Area Coordinator for the UTA Glass Program.
  3. Examples of student support may include but are not limited to: graduate student fellowships and student travel awards.

Joe Harris Annual Packaging Scholarship (graduate and undergraduate design students):

  1. fullā€time student in the Art & Art History department who has passed the 21hour portfolio review (CPR) for the Visual Communication Area.
  2. completed or is currently enrolled in Art 4374, Packaging & 3D CAD.
  3. Have an Art GPA of 3.25 or higher and a University GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  4. completed enough credits to be considered a Junior or Senior.

Michael Barlow Endowed Travel Award (junior or senior undergraduate students):

  1. Funds distributed from the endowment shall be used to provide an award to junior and/or senior Art & Art History or Architecture majors with a minimum 3.0 GPA to travel to pursue domestic and international study or exhibition opportunities with a preference for international opportunities.

Arlington Arts League Competition (graduate and undergraduate students):

  1. Applicants must be enrolled at UT Arlington during the semester he/she/they applies and must be attending UTA in the upcoming Fall. Scholarships apply to the beginning of the following fall semester.
  2. Applicants are to describe their future plans and any special needs required to accomplish their goals. Students may submit any two-dimensional or three-dimensional work produced while a student at UTA.

  • April 8 | 8:30AM - 10:00AM >> Students set up work at Studio Arts Center (810 S. Davis room 122) for judging (minimum: 3 pieces, maximum: 5 pieces)
  • April 8 | 10:30AM - 2:00PM >> Judging takes place, no students allowed during this time.
  • April 8 | 2:00PM - 3:00PM >> Students pick up work at Studio Arts Center (810 S. Davis room 122)
  • April 11 | 2:00PM - 3:30PM >> Winners will be notified
  • April 29 | 4:30PM - 7:00PM >> Awards reception, Arlington Independent School District Professional Development Center

*Students cannot be present during judging.

The Wishful Wings: James S. Barnett, Jr. Charitable Foundation awards four students with $500 each Fall and Spring semester at UTA in recognition of outstanding work in photography. Students will submit portfolios to be juried by two professionals from outside UTA in each Fall and Spring semester of the academic year. The jurors evaluate student achievement based on a presentation of a cohesive body of work. An honoraria will be given to four current students to exhibit the work in a four person show at Gallery West and give a public presentation at the reception.
