Marta O. Ocampo is a retired band/mariachi director of 37 years. She graduated from the University of North Texas (NTSU) with a Bachelor of Music Education and Southern Methodist University with a Master of Music Education.

Her career includes working for Duncanville ISD, The Diocese of Dallas, Arlington ISD, Fort Worth ISD, and Grand Prairie ISD. She was selected Teacher of the Year while working at Bishop Dunne HS, Diocese of Dallas (1994), Polytechnic HS, Fort Worth ISD (2011), and Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy, Grand Prairie ISD (2015). In 2017, she was named one of the national Teachers of the Year for the Arts School Network.

As a retired teacher, Mrs. Ocampo brings a wealth of knowledge. She now consults for Mesquite ISD, Richardson ISD, Arlington ISD, and Castleberry ISD. She has also been a judge for the area UIL Mariachi festival and a clinician for regions 5 and 12. She is often called upon as an adjudicator and mentor teacher at the state and national levels.
