SFAD - Student For a Day

You're invited to come visit the Department of Music and experience a day in the life of a UTA Music Major! Attend classes in your intended major, play in an ensemble rehearsal, attend a studio class, have or observe a lesson, and get to know the faculty and students.

Before you request to be a Student for a Day (SFAD), you need to meet all of these qualifications:

  • Read music
  • Currently a high school Senior or Junior, or a college student wishing to transfer to UT Arlington
  • Intend to major in music
  • Submit your request at least two weeks in advance of your intended visit

Upon receipt of your request, you will be contacted via email by the Department of Music.

Available Dates for Your SFAD Visit

We want your Student for a Day visit to be as beneficial as possible. Some dates are less desirable due to testing, etc. Please request a date that will work for you, based on your primary instrument and intended major.

A typical SFAD schedule lasts from 8:00am-5:00pm. It is a full day of music classes, ensembles, lessons, and meetings. Therefore, campus tours should not be scheduled during your SFAD visit.
