University Studies Commencement

Before applying to graduate, verify with your academic advisor if you are eligible to graduate.

In order to receive your UTA diploma, students must submit an Application for Graduation by the 4pm deadline for that semester.   If you have any questions, contact the Office of Records Graduation Desk at 817-272-2578 or

Depending on the commencement program publishing deadlines, late-applying students may not have their name included in the commencement program.

Candidates who submit their application for graduation and have been approved by their advisor to participate will receive instructions to obtain tickets for their guests in their UTA email account.

Candidates who submit their application late or who do not confirm their intent to participate will not receive instructions to print tickets in their MavMail account. We also cannot guarantee the maximum number of guest tickets. You will need a GRADUATE (not a guest) ticket for entry into the College Park Center west doors. All those with guest tickets will enter in the north doors. When you pull your tickets, you should also automatically get a graduate ticket. You must bring this with you to enter the building and participate in the ceremony.

Guests over the age of two must have a ticket to attend the ceremony. All seats are first come, first served basis. Amount of tickets are limited to the amount of each graduating candidate attending.

Ticketing information including quantities available to each student will be sent out at a later date once the number of participants is determined. If special assistance or accommodations are needed for the student to participate in commencement, please contact us via email at

Check the UTA Bookstore for dates and times for the Grad Finale. A Jostens representative will be there to show samples and take orders for your invitations/announcements and to take orders for Maverick Rings. Regalia (caps, gowns and hoods) and accessories will be on-hand for sale. This is a great one stop commencement shopping opportunity! Invitations and Announcements can be ordered online at

Do not bring personal items with you (i.e. purses, cameras, etc.). If you do not want to carry them across the stage, then leave them with your guest or family before you enter the building as they are not permitted in the line-up area. Once the ceremony begins you cannot return to this area. Items left in the line-up area are not the responsibility of University staff.

Flash Photography will photograph each graduate candidate during the commencement ceremony. Complimentary proofs will be mailed to the candidates the week after the ceremony. The photographer will use the address on the cards to mail ordering information to purchase pictures. If you have questions, please contact Flash Photography via their website here:
