Testing Policies and Procedures

These policies and procedures are the basic requirements at the UTA Testing Center. Please refer to each test's page for specific requirements for that exam.

General availability can be seen on our registration site. Be sure to check the page specific to your exam for additional registration information and restrictions. Registration for all exams can be found here on our scheduling site: UTA Testing Services scheduling site. UTA students must provide their 10-digit UTA ID number during registration.

In the event of a name change, additional proof of identification accompanying a valid government ID will be required i.e. marriage license, divorce decree, birth certificate etc.

Please note that our office no longer accepts cash as a form of payment. In addition to paying for your test session online, via our registration site, UTA students can have their student accounts charged. Non UTA students must call ahead to make other arrangements with a member of staff. 

EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1st, 2021

You must reschedule or modify your appointment at least 48 hours in advance your appointment day or you forfeit your test appointment fees. 

Test modifications can be made via your RegisterBlast account, using the instructions below.

How to reschedule your exam:

  • Click the My account/MY exams/MY history tab, at the top of the scheduling page.
  • Enter the email address you used to initially schedule your exam.
  • Click the continue button underneath the email field. 
  • In a few minutes, you'll receive an email link which is valid for 90 minutes. 
  • Click the Continue button underneath the email field.
  • A new window will open with your registration history.
  • Click the reschedule link.
  • A calendar will appear with available dates for rescheduling purposes.
  • Click the date and time to reschedule
  • After you have completed the step above, you will receive a confirmation email notifying you of the new test date. 

You should report to Academic Testing Services, University Hall Room 004, (In the basement) at least 15 minutes prior to the start of your appointment.

If you arrive 15 minutes after your exam start time, you may be required to reschedule your exam. You will not be allowed to begin your exam if your test is longer than our center's hours. Some dates and times may not be available.

You must provide a valid ID to be admitted to the exam (some tests require two forms of ID, please refer to the test page for further instructions on required forms of identification).

Valid ID, with photo identification, must be physically present and current. Photocopies of IDs are not acceptable forms of ID. You will not be admitted to the test without proper identification.

Closing times are strictly enforced. Plan ahead and allow enough time to complete your exam.

Due to requirements set by the Testing Companies, all students must leave all personal belongings in their car or put them in lockers that are provided (free of charge) in the testing center. Examples …

  • ELECTRONIC DEVICES SUCH AS CELL PHONES, PAGERS, PDAS, IPODS, CAMERAS, FLASH DRIVES, WATCHES, FITBITS, ETC.
  • BACKPACKS, BAGS, PENCIL CASES OR PURSES
  • BOOKS, NOTES, FORMULA SHEETS, PAPERS OR ANY OTHER ITEMS NOT PREVIOUSLY APPROVED BY THE INSTRUCTOR
  • HATS, HANDKERCHIEFS, SCARVES, GLOVES, SUNGLASSES AND LARGE HEADBANDS
  • FOOD OR DRINK
  • WEAPONS: CONCEALED OR OTHERWISE
  • TOBACCO PRODUCTS, VAPOR OR E-CIGARETTES

Any student found with a cell phone or other electronic device in the test room will be: dismissed, test canceled, fees forfeited and the student will be reported to UTA's Office of Student Conduct or corresponding entity.

EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1st, 2021

Cancellations made with more than 48 hours notice are eligible for partial refunds. The refund will be the amount paid minus all credit card processing fees (up to $7). Please contact Academic Testing Services in writing at testing@uta.edu in order to cancel the appointment.

Cancellations to your testing appointment with less than 48 hours notice are non-refundable. Appointment no shows will be treated as last minute cancellations and test fees will not be refunded

Emergencies and extenuating circumstances will be reviewed on a case by case basis. Valid emergencies/extenuating circumstances will result in a one-time appointment modification at no additional cost to the tester. This modification must be used within 30 calendar days from the original appointment date. Those wishing to modify an appointment must also request to do so in writing at testing@uta.edu.   

Academic Testing Services is able to provide the following accommodations: 

  • multiple breaks, extended test time and testing over multiple days
  • enlarged fonts
  • quiet location within the lab and private accommodations based on availability
  • screen reading software

If you require accommodations in taking an examination, they must be approved at least 14 business days in advance of your desired appointment date. Be sure to have all supporting documentation submitted following the instructions below: 

UTA STUDENTS: Requesting accommodations, please follow the link to the Testing Services Accommodation Request Form 073014 and contact the Student Access & Resource Center at 817-272-3364 or to complete the bottom section of the form. This accommodation form is for UTA students only. 

NON UTA STUDENTS: Contact the test company directly, prior to the desired test date, to arrange accommodations. Please note, each test company requires varying amounts of advance notice for requests. If you have documentation on file at your school, please contact them to request that your current accommodations be provided to our office, via email, at testing@uta.edu.

Fees vary by test and must be paid when you schedule the appointment.

UTA Students, with a 10-digit ID number, can choose to charge Testing Service's fees to their student account through the linked Charge Student Account form. Once completed, return the form to testing@uta.edu, at least 48hrs in advance of your desired appointment time (subject to availability). Incomplete or inaccurate forms will not be processed.

Testers under the age of 18 must have their legal guardian complete a Release of Indemnification form prior to testing.  

Testers who require accommodations for testing must complete the Accommodation Request form.
