Current Terry Scholars

A Cut Above

The Terry Foundation Scholarship Program does not consist merely of issuing checks once a semester; instead, it offers a sense of family and community. The Terry Foundation stays in close contact with Scholars throughout their education and encourages them and alumni to assist each other whenever possible. Terry Scholars are also expected to participate in student organizations and to be involved on campus.

The Terry Foundation hosts three events each year—orientation, the fall banquet, and the spring picnic—that Scholars are required to attend.

Orientation

At the beginning of each academic year, the Foundation holds an orientation session for all current Scholars, and incoming Terry Scholar freshmen to receive valuable information about the Terry program. At the same meeting, Terry Foundation representatives, Maverick Terry Scholars officers, and educational professionals interact with all Terry Scholars setting the tone for the upcoming school year.

Fall Banquet

In the fall, a formal dinner is held that features presentations by Terry Scholar upperclassmen, representatives of the Maverick Terry Scholars, and an invited guest speaker. The dinner is preceded by a reception, individual portraits, and a group photo. This is a chance for Scholars to meet and mingle with the directors, student officers, Terry Foundation staff, the Terry alumni, and each other.

Spring Picnic

In the late spring, all Scholars from the affiliated universities with the Terry Foundation Scholarship Program travel by bus to relax at a picnic where the accomplishments of the graduating seniors are recognized. Currently there are multiple locations for the spring picnic. UT Arlington Terry Scholars attend the Dallas area picnic.

A SENSE OF COMMUNITY

One way to keep in touch with Terry Scholars and alumni throughout the country is by social media like Facebook or Twitter.
