University Advising and Engagement Center

Our purpose is your success

The University Advising and Engagement Center enhances student learning by maximizing student use of University resources, ensuring understanding of University policies and procedures, and encouraging campus and co-curricular involvement. Through purposeful interactions, Academic Advisors encourage students to focus on their academic success and to define personal goals to support degree completion.

📣 A Message for Newly Admitted Students

Don’t schedule an advising appointment just yet.

If you’re a first-year student or a transfer with fewer than 24 credit hours, you’ll be advised by the Division of Student Success.

Here’s what to expect:

  1. After accepting admission, you’ll receive an invite to a self-guided Academic Advising Short Course in Canvas.
  2. Complete the entire module — upload transcripts and test scores to the Degree Plan Request Form in Module 2.
  3. Once finished, you’ll be on our advising radar.

🧭 Next Steps:

We’re advising students in the order they complete the course, while also prioritizing based on New Maverick Orientation (NMO) dates.

Example: If your NMO is next Thursday, you’ll be among the next group advised.

🎓 Advising Support at Orientation:

You’ll have access to advisors during your New Maverick Orientation — no separate appointment needed.
