Department of Public Affairs and Planning

The mission of the Department of Public Affairs is to provide a stimulating and inclusive environment that fosters intellectual curiosity and rigorous inquiry aimed at strengthening public affairs practice. The department prepares students to be leaders in the creation of environmentally and economically sustainable, healthy, and engaged communities. Degrees offered include the Master of Public Administration, Master of Public Policy, and the Public Administration and Public Policy.

The Planning Program at UTA offers the only professionally accredited Master in City and Regional Planning in the DFW metroplex. Our master's program (MCRP) prepares students to become life-long professional planners and leaders to solve real-world planning problems. Our Ph.D. program in Urban Planning and Public Policy (UPPP) trains students to conduct independent and cutting-edge research in planning and policy. Both programs have a long history, diverse faculty and students, and a dense network of prominent alumni in planning practice, academia, and research in Texas, the U.S., and around the world.
