Architecture Scholarships

Students must be in good academic standing with the University of Texas at Arlington and meet all entrance scholarship eligibility requirements for Internal (UT Arlington) Scholarships.

Internal (UT Arlington) Scholarships

Several scholarships have been established at the University to enhance academic opportunities for Architecture and Interior Design students. Students must be in good academic standing with the University of Texas at Arlington and meet all entrance scholarship eligibility requirements.

Architecture Scholarships

The Architecture Alumni Topping Out Endowed Scholarship was established by the Architecture Alumni Chapter of the UT Arlington Alumni Association in 2006 from the proceeds of the Topping Out Awards ceremony. The purpose of the fund is to provide financial support to the School of Architecture students in Interior Design, Landscape Architecture, and Architecture and to encourage them to complete their field of study at UT Arlington. 

The award is intended to be used for tuition, fees, books, supplies and competition entry fees for the awardee(s). Applicants may reapply for up to 3 years, as long as a minimum 3.25 GPA is maintained and other criteria include:

  • Majoring in either Interior Design, Landscape Architecture, or Architecture and have completed 15 credit hours as a student at UTA
  • Be enrolled full-time and in good standing with at least a cumulative 3.25 GPA
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and potential success
The American Institute of Architects Fort Worth Graduate Fellowship in Honor of Suzie Adams was established by the Fort Worth AIA Chapter in 2010 in honor of its long-serving executive director upon her retirement. Funds distributed from the endowment shall be used to provide scholarships to School of Architecture graduate students. It is the donor's wish that first preference be to support student(s)of high academic merit and professional design promise who reside in Tarrant County, TX. If no such student meets these criteria, the second preference would be to award the scholarship to student(s) who reside in Texas.

The Dr. John H. Matthys, P.E. Undergraduate/Graduate UTA Student Scholarship provides support for qualified UTA undergraduate/graduate students in Architecture, Civil Engineering and Construction. Preference will be given to US citizens and permanent residents. 

Undergraduate Student

  • Unconditional Admission
  • Scoring 1050 on SAT
  • GPA of 3.0 on last 60 hrs. of major undergraduate course work
  • Maintenance of 3.0 GPA on courses
  • Preference to U.S. Citizen or permanent resident
  • Part time or full time student at UTA during academic term covered by scholarship
  • Preference will be given to applicants with an active interest in construction and with the intent to pursue a career in the construction industry.

Master’s Degree Student

  • Unconditional Admission
  • Scoring 300 on GRE
  • GPA of 3.2 on last 60 hrs. of major undergraduate course work
  • Maintenance of 3.5 GPA on course
  • Preference to U. S. Citizen or permanent resident
  • Part time or full time student at UTA during academic term covered by scholarship
  • Preference will be given to applicants with an active interest in construction and with the intent to pursue a career in the construction industry.

Awarded every 3rd year - next award year: 2020-2021

The Fort Worth Post SAME Engineering, Architecture, and Science Scholarship Endowment provides scholarships to undergraduate juniors or seniors and graduate students majoring in Science. Selection of recipients will be based on enrollment in ROTC (highly desired but not required), academic achievement, financial need and participation in extracurricular activities including student honor societies and professional organizations relevant to their major area of study.

In addition, Donor suggests that recipients volunteer ten hours per each semester that they are receiving scholarship awards with the Society of American Military Engineers (“SAME”) in the form of MathCounts, robotics competition, Fort Worth Regional Science & Engineering Fair, SAME K-12 Outreach or involvement with the SAME UT Arlington student chapter, if such chapter exists. This scholarship is non-renewable.

Huitt-Zollars Endowed Scholarship for the College Engineering and Architecture Scholarships to undergraduate students in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or Architecture who are US citizens or permanent residents, demonstrate financial need, and have a 3.0 GPA.

Scholarship recipients shall continue to receive the scholarship from year to year as long as the eligibility requirements and selection criteria are met.

Included in the criteria for awarding this scholarship is "Demonstrated Financial Need" which requires the completion of the free application for federal student aid (FASFA). If you have not completed this form, please go to the Financial Aid website for further information and assistance.

External Architecture Scholarships

Texas Architectural Foundation Scholarships

Texas Architectural Foundation scholarships are awarded to undergraduate, graduate, or post-graduate students in the accredited departments or schools of architecture in Texas according to the criteria established by each donor and in accordance with the policies adopted by the TAF Board of Trustees. All applications for TAF scholarships are reviewed by CAPPA’s School of Architecture Scholarship Committee prior to submission to TAF. 


AISC Education Foundation Scholarships for Architecture Majors

American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) Education Foundation Scholarships are now available to undergraduate junior, senior or master-level graduate students in architecture for awards up to $10,000.  The online application for 2020-2021 AISC Scholarships has a May 1, 2020 deadline.
