In accordance with the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) accreditation requirements, the Interior Design Program at the University of Texas at Arlington collects and publishes information regarding student achievement including aggregate data addressing attrition and retention, graduation rates, job placement rates, and acceptance into graduate programs.
Length of Program
At 15 Credit Hours per semester, new transfer students will complete the INTD Undergraduate degree program, on average, in 3.5 years. The new FTIC Freshmen will require 4 years.
Retention and Attrition Rates
- 65% of New Interior Design students enrolled in Fall 2021returned for Fall 2022, which represents a 35% attrition rate.
- 50% of New Freshman Interior Design students enrolled in Fall 2021 returned for Fall 2022, which represents a 50% attrition rate.
- 68% of New Transfer Interior Design students enrolled in Fall 2021 returned for Fall 2022, which represents a 32% attrition rate.
Graduation Rates
- Of the students graduating from the Interior Design Program with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2022, 91% graduated in 4 years or less.
- Of the students graduating from the Interior Design Program with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2023, 75% graduated in 4 years or less
Acceptance into Graduate Programs
From 2020-2022, 13.5% of interior design graduates pursued advanced degrees:
- Three students from the May 2020 graduating class applied to graduate school and were accepted into UTA’s College of Architecture, Planning, and Public Affairs.
- One student from the May 2021 graduating class applied to graduate school and was accepted into UTA’s College of Business.
- Another student from the May 2021 graduating class applied to graduate school and was accepted into UTA’s College of Architecture, Planning, and Public Affairs.
- One student from the August 2021 graduating class applied to graduate school and was accepted into UTA’s College of Architecture, Planning, and Public Affairs.
- One student from the May 2022 graduating class applied to graduate school and was accepted into UTA’s College of Architecture, Planning, and Public Affairs.
Job Placement Rates
The following data for full-time and transfer students was collected using institutional records and a student survey that was administered prior to graduation. The surveys were distributed to students graduating in Spring 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Interior design. Of those 11 students, six responded for a 55% response rate. Of those six, four were employed for a 75% job placement rate. Three were employed in an Interior Design-related field for a 50% industry-related job placement rate.
