Consider taking a foreign language course as an optional general elective.

Meet your Undergraduate Student Leader and reach out to them with questions.

Meet with the Writing Center to get feedback and help with your papers.
Make a self-care plan and stick with it.

Trailblazing the Path
EDUCATE
Transition from BSW intended to BSW major*.
Take courses to complete a minor, such as Diversity Studies or Substance Use Treatment.
Check out the library's social work course guides and subject guides for help with assignments.
Explore a variety of social issues and social work career paths with electives like School Social Work, Green Social Work, Military Social Work, or Inequities in Incarceration.
ENGAGE
Speak with the Office of Undergraduate Research or talk to a professor about research opportunities.
Contact the Center for Service Learning for experiential opportunities and enroll in a SOCW course that offers service learning.
Practice self-care by joining a Wounded Healers meeting.
EXCEL
Apply for a field placement in the semester prior to beginning field.
Take on a leadership role in a student organization, such as the African American Social Workers Student Alliance.
Attend the Career Fair to explore post-graduation career opportunities.
Aim for acceptance into the Phi Alpha Social Work Honor Society.
Consider applying for Title IV-E funds to receive a stipend for a child welfare field placement (internship).
Destination Graduation
EDUCATE
Complete most or all of your course work before entering field placement (internship).
Consider applying to the UTA MSW Program; maintain a 2.5 GPA to graduate and a 3.00 GPA to enter MSW with advance standing status.
Apply to graduate.
Register for Commencement ceremony.
ENGAGE
Learn about a fast-growing field and volunteer with older adults with the student Gerontology Organization.
Leave a legacy and improve the BSW student experience by joining Social Work Council
Attend speaker series, social work career panel, and special events.
Gain leadership skills as an Undergraduate Student Leader.
