Our Mission Statement

The University of Texas at Arlington Academic Testing Services provides departmental, institutional, and national testing opportunities to students and non-students in an atmosphere which enables examinees to perform to the best of their abilities. This atmosphere relies on test administration practices which (1) adhere to nationally recognized professional testing standards and government regulations, (2) maintain the integrity of the testing process by incorporating ethical standards and security measures, and (3) treat all examinees in a professional yet personable manner. Academic Testing Services at The University of Texas at Arlington adheres to the National College Testing Association’s (NCTA) Professional Standards and Guidelines.

1. What is the difference between Academic Testing Services (ATS) and Alternative Testing Center (ATC)?

Academic Testing Services provides testing opportunities to UTA students and community members to help meet academic and professional goals.

The Alternative Testing Center works with the Student Access & Resource Center to provide testing accommodations to students for their UTA courses.

2. What is the address/phone number/email for Academic Testing Services (ATS)?

3. When is Academic Testing Services (ATS) open?

ATS business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Testing is available Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.


1. What tests can I take at Academic Testing Services (ATS)?
ATS proctors the following tests:

  • Advance Standing Exams (ASE) – ENGL 1301, ENGL 1302
  • Advance Standing Exams (ASE) – MATH 2425 (Calculus II), MATH 2326 (Calculus III)
  • CLEP
  • CLEP – Dantes
  • TEAS
  • TSIA2
  • External Proctored Exams

2. What do I need to know about registering for the in-person ASE English test?

Visit RegisterBlast to schedule an appointment for your ASE ENGL 1301 or ENGL 1302 test to be proctored in person at ATS. The ASE English tests are not offered online/remote.

3. What do I need to know about registering for the in-person ASE Math test?

Visit RegisterBlast to schedule an appointment for your MATH 2425 (Calculus II), MATH 2326 (Calculus III) test to be proctored by ATS. The ASE Math tests are not offered online/remote.

4. What do I need to know about registering for the in-person CLEP test?

Taking the CLEP test at ATS requires a two-part registration process.

  • Visit CLEP College Board and purchase the desired CLEP test.
    • CLEP Study Guides are available for purchase when you click on the test topic.
    • While CLEP College Board offers several test topics, UTA only accepts specific tests for credit. Click here to see a list of accepted tests, the minimum score required and the equivalent UTA course. (If you are taking a CLEP exam at ATS but attend another University, please check with that University to confirm which CLEP tests they accept.)
    • We recommend you speak to your academic advisor to determine which CLEP tests will satisfy specific degree requirements. We cannot advise you.
    • Please print out your CLEP ticket and bring it with you to the exam. Make sure your name matches the government ID you will be presenting at exam time. If it does not match, you will not be able to take the exam.
    • Visit RegisterBlast to schedule an appointment for your CLEP test to be proctored by ATS.

To register for a CLEP test with remote proctoring, you must make arrangements through CLEP.

 

5. What do I need to know about registering for the in-person CLEP Dantes test?

Taking the CLEP test at ATS requires a two-part registration process.

  • Visit Dantes and follow the instructions.
    • While CLEP College Board offers several test topics, UTA only accepts specific tests for credit. Click here to see a list of accepted tests, the minimum score required and the equivalent UTA course. (If you are taking a CLEP exam at ATS but attend another University, please check with that University to confirm which CLEP tests they accept.)

6. What do I need to know about registering for the in-person TEAS test?

Taking the TEAS test at ATS requires a two-part registration process.

  • Visit ATI TEAS and locate the “In-Person: Proctored by an Institution” option.
    • Click on the Registration Guide where you will find detailed instructions for creating an ATI account. You must do this prior to arriving for your test.
    • Our school name is listed as “U of TX Arlington”

To register for a TEAS test with remote proctoring, you must make arrangements through ATI.

7. What do I need to know about registering for the in-person TSIA2 test?

ATS proctors the TSIA2 exam for UTA and non-UTA students.

UTA students should check their email for any communication regarding the sections of the TSIA2 test for which you are liable. You may also reach out to a TSI advisor at tsi@uta.edu if you are uncertain.

  • Visit Accuplacer and locate the “Free TSIA2 PAA and Practice Resources”
    • You must complete the entire Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA) before scheduling an appointment.
    • Once completed, you will receive a PAA Certificate. Please save this as you will need to upload the certificate when registering for the test
  • Visit RegisterBlast to schedule an appointment for your TSIA2 test to be proctored by ATS.

8. What do I need to know about registering to take the TSIA2 test at home (online)?

ATS does not proctor at home (online) TSIA2 tests. The test is proctored by a third party (Meazure Learning). Only UTA students may use this process for completing the TSIA2 test.

  • Complete your free TSIA2 Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA) and save the certificate you receive at the end.
    • You must complete the full PAA even if you are only taking a portion of the TSIA2 test and not the whole test.
  • Choose a group: TSIA2
  • Choose Your Exam Status: Applied or admitted students (with UTA ID number)
  • Choose an exam: AT HOME (please check with a TSI advisor to confirm which section you need to take).
    • Do not select “AT UTA” as these are for students taking the exam in person at ATS.
  • Exam Description: You must read this entire description as it provides specific information about fees and computer requirements.
    • If you cannot meet the computer requirements, you will need to take the test in person (AT UTA).
  • Who is taking this exam: Complete all information included in this section.
    • Ensure your first and last name are the same as what you listed when applying to UTA.
    • ATS cannot create an online voucher with an icloud email. Please use your UTA email address.
    • Ensure your UTA ID# is entered correctly.
    • You will need to upload the PAA certificate you completed in an earlier step.
  • Exam guideline acknowledgement: You must read the entire section as it provides specific processing time for the voucher creation, how to schedule the exam with Meazure Learning (not ATS), the proctor fee, reschedule/cancellations, and information about voucher re-creation.
    • Once you have reviewed and agree to the guidelines, please check the box.
  • Click on “Add to Cart” and proceed to payment.
    • There are two fees. One is paid to ATS at the time this request is completed. The second one is a proctor fee paid to Meazure Learning once your test date is selected.
  • RegisterBlast will send a receipt of the transaction to the email you provided in the RegisterBlast registration. Information about the voucher process will be listed at the bottom of the receipt.
    • An online voucher will be created 5-7 business days from the date you complete this request.
    • ATS will send an email from testing@uta.edu confirming your voucher has been processed and to expect an email from Accuplacer.
    • Accuplacer will then send an email providing further instructions about signing up for a test appointment with Meazure Learning.

9. How much do you charge to proctor my test?

The following fees are charged for proctoring the test.

  • Advance Standing Exams (ASE) – ENGL 1301, ENGL 1302 ($45)*
  • Advance Standing Exams (ASE) – MATH 2425 (Calculus II), MATH 2326 (Calculus III) ($35)
  • CLEP - $30*
  • CLEP Dantes – paid for by the military*

For those exams marked with an asterisk (*), there is a second fee for purchasing the exam.

10. I am attending another school and need to take a test. Can you proctor it?

1. How do I schedule an appointment?

All tests are scheduled using RegisterBlast.


Only highlighted dates are available. If your preferred time is not listed on a particular day, please choose another date. During the last week of each month, dates for the following month will be made available.

2. I don’t see any available days to take my test. What do I do?

We open appointments the last week of each month for the following month. Appointments are only open one month at a time. If you do not see any appointments available, please check back as appointments may be cancelled or added.


3. How do I cancel an appointment?

Appointments may be cancelled through RegisterBlast at least 48 hours in advance of the scheduled appointment date and time. You will not be able to cancel your appointment if it is within 48 hours of your scheduled appointment. A new appointment will need to be scheduled.

- Click on the orange icon at the top of the page.

- Click on “My Exams/My History” and the exam you wish to cancel. If you do not see your history, you will be asked for the email you used to register. An email will be sent to you with a link that is valid for 90 minutes. Once you click on that link, you will see your history of exam appointments.

- Locate the exam you wish to cancel and click on “Cancel” in the list of options to the right.

- A question asking if you would like to cancel your registration will appear. You can either select “Yes, cancel my registration” or “Keep current registration”.

You will see “Your registration has been canceled” on the next screen.


4. How do I reschedule an appointment?

Appointments may be rescheduled through Register Blast at least 48 hours in advance of the scheduled appointment date and time. Attempts to reschedule an appointment with less than 48 hours’ notice will not be valid and are non-refundable.

- Click on the orange icon (or profile icon) at the top of the page.

- Click on “My Exams/History” and the exam you wish to reschedule. If you do not see your history, you will be asked for the email you used to register. An email will be sent to you with a link that is valid for 90 minutes. Once you click on that link, you will see your history of exam appointments.

- Locate the exam you wish to reschedule and click on “Reschedule” in the list of options to the right.

- Select a new date and time and then click on “Reschedule”.

Your rescheduled appointment confirmation should appear on the “History” screen. You may print a copy for your records; however, confirmation will be emailed to you.

5. I have an emergency and cannot make my appointment.

Emergencies and extenuating circumstances that occur with less than 48 hours’ notice will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Approvals may result in a one-time appointment modification at no additional cost to the examinee. The modification must be used within 30 calendar days from the original appointment date. Submit your request to Academic Testing Services at testing@uta.edu.

1. Where should I park?

There is no parking at University Hall.

The most central place to park is the Maverick Parking Garage located at 708 S W St, Arlington, TX 76010. Payment is required 24/7.

Please ensure any parking arrangements are taken care of prior to arriving for your exam. Once an exam begins, you will not be able to access your phone or return to your vehicle to extend hours/payment.

3. Are there prohibited items that I can’t take inside the lab while I take my test?

The following items are prohibited in the lab while testing. Please keep in mind this is not a complete list.

  • Electronics such as laptops, cell phones, smart watches, ear buds, etc. All electronics must be turned off.
  • Hats, scarves, bags, backpacks, purses, wallets, keys.
  • Bracelets, watches or large rings.
  • Food, drink, gum, candy, lip balm, lozenges, tissue.
  • Pens, pencils, calculators, highlighters, books and notes (unless pre-approved and required for the exam).

All pockets must be emptied. A locker with a code will be provided for you to place all items before entering the lab.

4. Will I have a locker to place my personal items?

We will provide a locker for you to place all personal items. You will be given instructions for setting your own 4-digit code.
 

I have approved accommodations. How do I notify you?

Testers who need specific accommodation while taking a test at the Academic Testing Services (ATS) Lab (University Hall, Room 004) must complete and submit the Accommodation Request Form at least three weeks prior to the date on which the test is to be proctored.

UTA Students

For accommodations to be considered while taking a test in the ATS Lab, the tester must already be registered with the UTA Student Access and Resource Center (SAR).

Tester is registered with SAR: Please complete the ATS Accommodation Request Form and email it to sarcenter@uta.edu. Please allow 3-5 business days for SAR to process your request.

Tester is NOT YET registered with SAR:

  1. Register with SAR: https://www.uta.edu/student-affairs/sarcenter/requesting-services
  2. Submit the completed ATS Accommodation Request Form to sarcenter@uta.edu.
  3. Please allow 2-4 weeks for SAR to process your complete request.


SAR will send an email to the tester and ATS once they have reviewed the accommodation request. ATS will then review the accommodation request and notify the tester of approval and/or a request for additional information along with instructions for scheduling the test.

Non-UTA Students

Please complete the ATS Accommodation Request Form and send it to testing@uta.edu. Once the request has been reviewed, additional documentation will be requested depending on the accommodation and specific test requested. Please allow 3-5 business days for ATS to review your request.
