About The Academy

The Goolsby Leadership Academy (GLA), within the UTA College of Business, is a cohort-based leadership development opportunity for high performing students. Our mission is to develop the character, competence, and confidence of future business leaders.  This is done through a variety of exceptional experiences including Academy-only academic courses, seminars, workshops, business visits, professional networking opportunities, case study competitions, service learning projects, social events, a cohort-only study abroad, and more.
  
The Academy has developed a unique GLA Leadership Competency Model, based on input from area employers, to ensure relevant and marketable knowledge and skills are taught by our top faculty in the college, visiting faculty from other universities, and recognized business leaders.

As a result, future business leaders are created here.

The Academy, which recently celebrated its 20th Anniversary, consists of two primary programs: The Early Leader Program for freshman and sophomores, and the Emerging Leader Program for juniors and seniors.

Programs

Early Leader Program

Admission to the Early Leader Program is open throughout students’ freshman and sophomore years. Interested business students with a minimum 3.1 GPA can apply.

Emerging Leader Program

Admission to the Emerging Leader Program is highly selective. We admit one cohort each year of 30 students on average. Applications for current students open in mid-February and close in mid-March.
