You are ready for Field when all of the following is completed:

BSW Students

If in doubt, check your degree plan to ensure you are following the courses determined for you.

The following prerequisite courses are completed and passed with a C or better:

  • SOCW 2361: Introduction to Social Work
  • SOCW 3300: Social Work Professionalism & Student Success
  • SOCW 3307: Diverse Populations
  • SOCW 3305: Social Work Practice I
  • MATH 1308 or Equivalent
  • SOCW 2302: Life Span Development and Human Behavior
  • SOCW 3303: Social Welfare Policy and Services
  • SOCW 3301: Theories of Human Behavior
  • SOCW 3306: Social Work Practice III: Macro Practice
  • SOCW 3308: Social Work Research Methods
  • SOCW 3309: Social Work Practice II

Your GPA is a 2.5 or better

Once you have completed the prerequisites and your GPA is a 2.5 or better, the field courses that you register for are as follows:

Split Field Placement (you will complete a minimum of 480 hours over 2 consecutive semesters) register for:

  • Semester I: 4551 & 4451 - Split Field I
  • Semester II: 4552- & 4452 - Split Field II

Block Field Placement (you will complete a minimum of 480 hours in 1 semester) register for:

  • 4445/4555 - Block Field I

    &

  • 4456/4556 - Block Field II

Foundation MSW Students

If in doubt, check your degree plan to ensure you are following the courses determined for you.

The following prerequisite courses are completed and passed with a C or better:

  • SOCW 5301: Human Behavior in the Social Environment
  • SOCW 5304: Generalist Micro Practice
  • SOCW 5306: Generalist Macro Practice

Your GPA is a 3.0 or better

Once you have completed the prerequisites and your GPA is a 3.0 or better, the field courses that you register for are as follows:

Split Field Placement (you will complete a minimum of 480 hours over 2 consecutive semesters) register for:

  • Semester I: 5581 - Split Field I
  • Semester II: 5381 - Split Field II

Block Field Placement (you will complete a minimum of 480 hours in 1 semester) register for:

  • 5585 - Block Field I

    &

  • 5385 - Block Field II

Advanced MSW Students
